Reasons to Volunteer

For information on internships, please see Job Opportunities.Hotline volunteerThe hotline volunteer is someone who can provide emotional and practical support to victims of sexual violence. Responsibilities include talking to hotline callers, accompaniment to police or hospital if needed, and follow-up. Volunteers assist with hotline coverage primarily in the evening, on weekends and holidays. Hotline volunteers also staff information tables at community events and provide assistance with fundraising events. Requirements: Applicants must complete an initial 20 hour training program provided by Rape Crisis, offered periodically, and pass a criminal background check. Continuing education and supervision are provided at hotline volunteer meetings. (Related experience or training cannot be substituted for training program.) Minimum age for hotline counselors is 21 years of age. To Apply: Contact our Hotline Services Coordinator at 410-857-0900. TrusteeA trustee is someone who desires to be a member of our governing board. Members are nominated and elected by majority vote of the Board. Trustees are recruited based on their area of expertise, community service, leadership and desire to be involved. Requirements: Each trustee serves a two-year term after election. A criminal background check is required, as well as an annual financial contribution of $150. The contribution may be a personal gift or sponsored by another agency or program.
