Telephone/Hotline Support

Survivors of sexual violence and their families make up the bulk of calls to the Rape Crisis office and hotline. In the last twelve months, staff and hotline volunteers responded to 394 hotline calls and placed 67 calls to clients.

Information calls are requests from callers needing help with a broad variety of issues, not necessarily related to sexual violence treatment.

The trauma of sexual violence is powerful and lasting. Many clients have not told their family or spouse about the abuse prior to coming to counseling.

Psychotherapeutic Services

The services most frequently requested by clients when they call is counseling, followed by hotline support, walk-in crisis counseling and group therapy.

Clients are asked to make a contribution of $7 per group session and $15 per individual session for counseling services. This is waived when the client is financially unable to contribute.

Community Education Programs

A vital part of reducing sexual violence is education. Many children grow up thinking that sexual violence is a part of life, whether as a victim or a perpetrator. Education programs clarify for would-be offenders that force is wrong, and for victims, that they are not to blame.
